Jack Scott was not much of a skier. He had tried before but given up. That was until ski champion Gertie Beaton (nee Wepsala) convinced him to give it a try again.
In this newspaper article he shares his thoughts on the luck of Vancouver residents having such close access to slopes, as well as of skiing itself. Or as he tells it in one paragraph....
"As for method, there was no instruction, no beginning at the beginning. The system was to herring-bone your way to the top of the highest hill, point yourself downward, swallow your heart, shove off and pray rapidly to God. By the time you'd done this eight million times, you had worked out your own style. If you survived, you were a skier."
